Wedsnaps! and a few wet guests
Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:05PM Shot Gregg & Audrey's wedding in Palm Springs and here's their Wedsnaps! online proofing. Password is 100408. Oh and the wet guy down below.... nice tie huh? Shine getting undressed for the after-wedding swim. Just go for it. And make weird faces for the camera. You know I'm pulling the trigger on that stuff :)
Congrats you two :)

Wedsnap! Fun
Monday, October 13, 2008 at 7:49PM Shot two events on Saturday Oct 11th and the 2nd was soley a Wedsnaps! shoot. When you shoot hundreds of people in a month you're bound to run into people you know. The Bowens from Del Mar. They're son Dave was a good friend of mine when I was going to school in Hawaii. Small world :)
I swore I shaved for this event. Yeah and the gum.... Nice.

New proofing system for beach and on location assignments. Pretty hyped with it.

Friday, September 19, 2008 at 2:37PM Had to get the new water housing wet this morning. Surf was dismal, but clean and definitely a nice day in SD. Here's a slideshow of Big Rock.
Also... the tune on this slideshow, Ride this Way, was written by Jeff Collins. His CD is for sale here. He just turned 19, devoting two years to missionary work in Cuernavaca, Mexico and frankly could use the funds to help pay for his big adventure. Listen and buy. If you'd like :)

Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 6:09PM Evan from surftherenow.com was kind enough to post my slideshow of Kelly's win at the Boost Mobile Trestles contest.
Thanks Evan.
Surf. Photography.
Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 4:27PM Back in 2000 I was living in Hawaii and was checking out the surf at Velzyland on the North Shore of Oahu. I read Surfer Magazine like most surfers do and John Bilderback was a name I would often see as a photo credit in the mag. That day at Velzyland I saw a water photographer just finishing shooting, pulling off his fins and he walked toward me from the waters edge and I said hello. Striking up conversation about gear and shooting photos in the water I found out it was John. I was genuinely stoked to meet the guy. Long story short, I was inspired by his work, ended up buying an old water housing from him along with a Canon EOS 600, which I *just* priced at $20 on eBay. Unbelievable. Actually, entirely believable the way technology goes...
So why I am writing all this. Just reminiscing on the beginnings of my water photography and in returning back to the roots of the Hawaii days. I just picked up a water housing from Erik Hjermstad of Del Mar Housing Projects. I met Erik back in 2003 in San Diego and I purchased a video housing from him for destination wedding in Fiji in 2005 that we used for some Scuba footage. I'm no longer doing video, that housing went to a guy in Italy and with bit of money and trade I scored this:

I'm back in the water. Photos surely to come.
Positive
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 2:20PM I hardly ever look at these, much less blog them, but there are powerful words here, that if lived, can heal you. And you know and I know, we need healing from time to time. Probably more than we want to admit.

Guess who won. Kelly takes out Bede, Taj takes out Flores, Kelly takes out Taj. Here's a peek at the last hour of the contest on Thursday.
The future of photography blogging
Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 2:30PM We can take photos with our PDA's and have them immediately uploaded to a blog. Very cool. Will Canon or Nikon or any of the major players create a camera with internet capability, like the iPhone, with the ability to upload a resized image to the web, in the middle of your shoot?
Just a bit of wishful thinking.
